Blog is short for Weblog. A Weblog is a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.
If you are looking for information about the people who run this blog, you may click on this LINK to find our Colophon. If you are looking for program specific posts, please see the MENU above or look at the end of this article for your particular interest.
This Weblog, shawneetrails.blog, is designed to be a primary gathering place for Tiger Leaders in the Shawnee Trails District. The Shawnee Trails District encompasses the geographic boundaries of the Shawnee Mission School District. Tiger Leaders (first grade parents and other leaders), and Lion Leaders (kindergarten parents and other leaders), are some of our most valuable volunteers. This Blog exists to help them as their child starts his or her Scouting journey.
Beginning 1 January of 2018, Commissioners, Troop Leaders, Pack Leaders and Crew Leaders will also be joining in the background of this Blog. This site will still service our Tiger Leaders on the main pages, but functionality will be increased behind the scenes to help Commissioners and Committee Members join together with their Units so we all might strive to deliver, more effectively, the Promise of Scouting to our young people.
With all that said, this is not an official page of the BSA, the HOAC or the Shawnee Trails District. Rather, this is the vision and work product of the District Commissioner and his/her staff. This page is designed to be unobtrusive, to provide resources on your schedule, and to allow you to comment and to receive feedback on questions or issues you are facing.
We have a list of Unit Commissioners who can serve as a resource to you as you deliver on the Promise. You will find, with the Commissioner Corps and the District Committee, that there are more than 100 people who stand ready to assist you and your Unit in every aspect of Scouting.
